Yangi Kon Launched to Drive Uzbekistan’s Gas Exploration strategy

Tashkent, 2022 – Yangi Kon LLC announces its formal establishment as a key national vehicle to advance the Republic of Uzbekistan’s ambitions in the energy sector, as well as in strategic mineral development, value-added processing and industrial modernisation. In his 2022 address, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of building a modern, self-reliant energy system capable of supporting Uzbekistan’s economic trajectory and reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to moving beyond raw-material export, building competitive industry capacity and integrating into global value-chains.
Focus of Yangi Kon’s mandate
A key pillar of Yangi Kon’s mission is to advance exploration in Western Uzbekistan’s Ustyurt region, an area highlighted by geoscientists as one of the country’s most promising yet under-explored basins. According to national studies and international technical reviews, Ustyurt presents the characteristics of a large deep-gas play—including extensive Jurassic source rocks, thick reservoir intervals and favourable trapping conditions—positioning it as a strategic frontier for future exploration activity
By directing its efforts towards gas exploration, geology and modern mineral-processing, Yangi Kon supports the President’s call for innovation, competitiveness and industrial sovereignty.
