Yangi Kon Begins Seismic Exploration in the Ustyurt Region
Published April 28, 2026
Ustyurt Region, Uzbekistan – Yangi Kon is pleased to announce the launch of 2D seismic field operations across two high-potential areas in the Ustyurt region: the Nasambek (Block 42) and Uzunkair (Block 45) prospects.
The transition to field operations follows an extensive cycle of integrated analytical studies designed to de-risk the project and enhance predictive accuracy.
Pre-Field Phase: Deep Analytics
The company’s technical team conducted a comprehensive program to build a robust, science-based foundation:
- Data Audit: A full-scale audit and re-evaluation of all existing geological records for these blocks.
- Data Processing: Legacy data sets were re-processed using modern algorithms, resulting in a more accurate and updated geological model of the region.
- Technical Validation: Findings from the preliminary analysis confirmed the necessity of new seismic surveys to verify resource potential and clarify complex subsurface structures.
Strategy and Scope
Given the complex tectonic environment and the historically under-explored nature of these blocks, Yangi Kon is utilizing a phased exploration strategy.
Key Metric: The planned 2D seismic program covers approximately 1,980 line kilometers.
Projected Outcomes
Execution of this program will enable the company to:
- Establish a reliable foundation for the high-quality assessment of oil and gas targets.
- Reduce uncertainty in data interpretation within complex geological sections.
- Develop a robust, long-term exploration drilling schedule.
